Support Foster Children

When Blessed Michael J. McGivney founded the Knights of Columbus in 1882, his mission was clear: protect and support the most vulnerable, beginning with the widows and orphans of his parish. Today, Saint Louis Martin Council carries on that mission by supporting foster children in Loudoun County.

About Foster Care in Loudoun County

Children in foster care range from birth to 21 years old, with the majority being age 11 and older. Many have experienced abuse or neglect and need stable, caring support from the community.

Ways to Help

• Become an Approved Foster Parent — The primary need in Loudoun County. Foster families provide safe, loving homes for children in the care of the county.
• Mentor Youth Aging Out — Through the Don’t Go Alone program, a partnership with Project Belong, mentors help young adults transitioning out of the foster care system at age 18.

The Impact of Mentorship

• 93% of connected youth pursue education after aging out
• Less than 1% of connected foster boys have law enforcement contact
• Less than 5% of connected girls experience unplanned pregnancy
